Seattle Motorcycle Accident
On March 2nd of 2013, a Renton man was severely injured in a motorcycle accident. The incident occurred on East Silver Lake Road on North Whidbey near Seattle, Washington. The motorcyclist, Joel Crouch, 27, suffered head injuries, but was confirmed to be out of intensive care just a few days later. At the time of the incident, Crouch was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center and Hospital in Seattle.
The accident occurred approximately around 10 AM according to the Washington State Patrol. Apparently the motorcyclist was traveling on North Strawberry Point Road near Seattle when he veered onto the right shoulder and lost control of his 2007 Kawasaki 250.
According to the Washington State Patrol Trooper Dave Martin, the accident was appeared to be caused by a brief lapse of attention. However, the patrol is still trying to understand exactly what happened. Unfortunately, there were no other witnesses to add to the incident’s details. Crouch was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was not believed to be speeding at the time. The Firm of Driggs, Bills & Day, P.L.L.C. may be able to assist.
Motorcycle Accidents Frequent
Motorcycle accidents like the one described above occur frequently in Seattle. Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents tend to be more dangerous as there is little protection for the riders. While motorcyclists wear helmets and protective gear, they have much less protection than the average driver in a passenger car. Thus, injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident happen to be much more severe and dangerous.
In addition, motorcycles have much smaller frames so they are harder to view in a driver’s blind spot. Many drivers accidently strike motorcyclists as they do not see them in their view. Therefore, motorcyclists have to be especially defensive when riding near other vehicles. However, when a momentary lapse of attention occurs, motorcyclists can become gravely injured.
